Haplochromines

Haplochromines, also called Haps are endemic to the African Great Lakes. These amazing Cichlids have interesting behaviors, brilliant colors and are very common among aquarium hobbyist. Unlike Mbuna's, Haps need considerably larger aquariums with wide open swimming space.

Mbuna

Mbuna's are some of the most colorful freshwater fish endemic to Lake Malawi, Africa. The name Mbuna is the african name for "rockfish" and as the name implies, these fish live among piles of rocks and small caves. These relatively small cichlids are suitable for beginner fish keepers who have researched their needs.

Peacocks

Aulonocara also referred as Peacock cichlids are endemic to Lake Malawi. These relatively non-aggressive cichlids are very common in the aquarium hobby because of their various colors morphs. Peacocks are best kept in larger aquariums with other non-aggressive cichlids.
